Hi
He hasn't been eatting properly for the last week, and started looking run down. We took him to the vet due to a dislocated knee but they thought there was something more so did a blood test. He has been an outdoor cat all his life, but now in quarintine.

Dear friend,

I am sorry your boy is ill. FIV is not a death sentence but the cat must be kept indoors and avoid secondary infections.

You can read about FIV here:

http://www.winnfelinehealth.org/health/felv-fiv.html

http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/brochures/fiv.html

Since he lived outdoors he may just be testing positive for exposure. Not every exposed cat comes down with full blown AIDS.

Keep him in and well fed with canned food and retest in two months.

Please let me know what happens.

Warmest best wishes for him,

Terri
