Question

Hi. This is the first time this has happened to me, so I'm trying not to freak out. My normal period is roughly a 28 day cycle where I bleed for around five days. This past time has been completely different. I was two weeks late, had brown spotting for a week, then bled heavily (at least more than I'm used to) for five days and then brown spotting again for a week. Is there anything wrong? Or should I not worry and wait to see if next month is normal?

Answer

Hi,

Thanks for input,

there are multiple reasons that can cause this sort of symptoms.

it can simply be due to shedding of old endometrial tissue.

other causes include.

sexually transmitted diseases like, gonnorhoea, chlamydia,

cervical inflammation,

Pelvic inflammatory disease,

cervical cancer.

It is preferable to get a genital examination to rule out any pathology of the genital tracts causing these symptoms.

I hope answer was helpful.

Thank you for responding. I've only had one sexual partner, my husband, who also has never had an STD. We also always use a condom. I have not experienced any pain or odd coloring or odor.

Accepted Answer

Hi,

Thanks for input,

As with your history of single partner STD's are less likely so other causes that i have mentioned should be evaluated.

your symptoms can simply be due to shedding of old endometrium that can occur with hormonal imbalance.

you should keep an eye on the symptoms like, pain abdomen, increase in bleeding, itching, rash, fever, pain during sex, burning urination.
If you feel any of such symptoms then you have to get clinical evaluation.

I hope answer was helpful.
