Question

m\My wife has dementia 2nd stage and has been using the internet to buy things we cannot afford. She has also gotten loans. I cant account for where the money even went and of course neither can she. I've taken the computers away by entering new passwords. I have a power of attorney but that does not prevent her doing things she can account for. I love my wife and do not feel that she is a danger to herself or others. She just needs to be whit someone at most times. my daughter helps alot.

I live in a small town in Texas about a 150 miles from a large city. I've called local attorneys but no one handles this type of law.

You need to take her to a doctor and see if she is incompetent. If she is, then you need a doctor to claim that and then you will need to get guardianship over her. If you can prove that she was incompetent when she entered into those contracts, then you can get out of them. However they will argue that she was lucid then and entered into the contracts knowing what she was doing. That is really all you can do to avoid the contracts short of bankruptcy.
