Question

I have two windows 7 computers that can't see each other using homegroup. My laptop was upgraded from vista to windows 7. My desktop already had windows 7 on it. Since upgrade, I also cannot connect with \\mary-pc\ etc.

Are you joining each computers home group using the homegroup option in the control panel? If so, is it not accepting the password supplied by each computer?

Reply

Yes, I am using the same password for both homegroups. This all worked when I had different systems, however, since upgrade on my laptop, they just don't see each other.

I'm not sure I follow. Homegroups are not compatible on vista, only windows 7 machines. Were you just using shared folders before?

17 days and 1 hours ago.

Reply

No, but I was able to open a network connect between computers when I was using vista.

After upgrade, I did change the password on both systems to a new one that I typed in. I did this on both computers,

I am not able to open any connections between the computers now, as well as not use homegroups.

Accepted Answer

Click on Start, then Control Panel. Then click on "View network status and tasks" under the network and internet section. On the left, click on "Change advanced sharing settings". On the next screen, make sure everything is turned on or on the recommended settings.

Please let me know if it still doesn't work.

Thanks,

Joe
