Question

I need information on the location of the Freeze plug that plugs in on a Hyundai Santa Fe 2002 2.4 liter motor. I do not need an inline heater for the block, or anything else, just the location to install and if possible the instructions on the best way to install it. I already have a trickle charger, oil pan heater, transmission pan heater and interior heater with a four way plug in.

I have gotten the advice on the best thing to use for my block and all of the mechanics up here on the North Slope of Alaska advise using the freeze plug. I am personally installing it and need to know the location and instructions of installation to prevent leaking etc.

Hello, It doesn't matter which freeze plug you use, just pick one that's easy to access, and is far enough from the exhaust that it won't be damaged by the heat, measure the diameter of the hole, get a block heater that'll fit that diameter of hole. What you'll do is using a hammer and punch, hit it on one side, it'll turn it sideways, at that point use a pair of pliers to pull it out of the hole, then install your block heater per it's instructions, usually you just stick it in the hole and tighten the nut which then expands the rubber portion of the heater sealing it in the block..
