Question

my son is 17 and has piercings on his face the school board has set forth rules for the whole school district about not being able haveing any facial piercings. on the 27th of oct the pricipal saw him with them and asked him to take them out he couldn't because they are only a couple of weeks old so they sent him to in iss. I had a meeting with the vice principal on the 3rd of this month about him being singled out, and that there are many students with these. He said he would give until after thankgigving to have them removed. They are not asking any of the other students to remove theirs because they have not caught them. He sent an email to his teachers that he would be removing them by the time. but nothing has been sent to all the teachers about all the students have to remove them. He said he sent it so his teachers would not bother him, he has had these for 6 full days before this happened. I think he is being singled out and not the other students. what are my opp

just talking to the school but they don't think he is being discriminating against. I don't seem to be getting anywhere with the school

Accepted Answer

There is no law against discriminating against someone due to face peircings. So even if it is unfair that he is the only one being punished it is not illegal. If the principal has not seen other children with them on then he can not take action with out proof that the others are violating the policy. You should file a complaint with the school board for his failure to enforce their rules and let them take action against the principal.
