While I wait for your reply i thought you might want to go over your ignition timing.

Greeting's
Let me see if I can help you. Tell me exactly how you are checking the timing marks on both the camshaft sprocket and the cranckshaft sprocket?

THE CRANKSHAFT MARK ON PULLY WAS AT TDC COMPRESSION STROKE, AND

THE OUTSIDE CAM GEAR TIMING MARK WAS 1. STRAIGHT UP AND THE OTHER

TWO WERE EVEN WITH TOP OF HEAD,INSIDE TWO GEARS HAD THE MARKS IN-LINE WITH MARKS ON TOP OF HEAD, BUT ROTOR WAS AT #2 POSITION ON CAP.

Answer

Hello,
The way your checking the cam marks is correct, however the crankshaft is not lined up using the tdc mark. You must remove the front crankshaft pulley, and lower timing belt cover, and line up the mark on the crankshaft sprocket straight up just like the cam sprocket. I believe once you line up the the crankshaft sprocket correctly, you will find the cam mark is not lined up, which would indicate the timing belt jumped. The TDC mark is used for setting ignition timing, but is not used for valve timing.
I hope this helps

STEVE, IF #1 PISTON IS ALL THE WAY UP ON THE COMPRESSION STROKE, IS THAT NOT THE SAME AS LINING UP THE CRANK SHAFT SPROCKET????

Posted by Steve 16 days and 1 hours ago.

Answer

Hello,
Sorry, but unfortunately not. Valve timing (timing belt setup ) is not necessarily set up with the engine at TDC. Ignition timing and valve timing are two different things.
I hope this helps

STEVE, IF I CHECK THIS OUT BY TAKING IT APART AND I FIND EVERYTHING ON THE CRANK IN TIME, WHERE DO I GO FROM THERE????

Accepted Answer

Hello,
If you find everything in line there, then you'll need to remove the camshaft sprocket and check the back side where it's lined up with a pin in the end of the camshaft. I have seen camshaft sprockets rotate and damage the back side of the sprocket and the camshaft where the pin or dowel goes into the camshaft. If that checks out, then you need to verify the two camshafts are synced properly. I believe if you remove the valve cover, there are marks on the end of the camshaft gear sprocket for the chain that sync's the two cams. Both cam marks should be pointing straight up. But I still believe your timing belt has jumped.
I hope this helps
Steve
