Hi there
Are these bumps painful? Are they bleeding?
Ok, thanks.
Sounds like you might be having a local reaction to the anesthetic that was used during the numbing process. I would suggest that you use a warm, salty gargle for a few days (1 teaspoon of salt mixed with 12 oz of warm water) and you can use this 5-6 times per day. Also, you can take some Advil to help with the inflammation.
If these areas start to bleed or become sore, you might need to be rechecked to rule out an abscess. You would need antibiotics for this.
Also, just for charting purposes, you might want to call the physician who did the procedure and let them know you had this type of reaction afterwards and they can put this in your chart in case it happens again, they might want to use a different drug or technique.
Hi
Yes, I have heard of patients having small 'bumps' in their mouths after numbing injections....so yes, if since you have just had a procedure, I would say they are related. If you had not had anything done lately, I would say to go ahead and have your Dr take a look, but in your case, you can just watch them for a few more days and see if they resolve on their own. The oral mucosa is very delicate and sometimes the local reaction is swelling.
If your spots are not better or have decreased in size in 4-5 more days, or you develop new symptoms, you probably should go ahead and have them checked, but they will most likely resolve over time as the inflammation goes down.
