Question

my puppy poo looks like yellow gluggy mucus at times, and then it is normal at times, have seen a little traces of blood in it. Only had her about a week and she is just over 6 weeks old. She is pomeranian. She has been wormed and had her first vaccination. I am not sure what is wrong what I should do. She drags her bottom along the ground a little after going to the toilet. But she has a very furry bum and I don't think she likes it when the droppings get caught and stuck in there? any help or suggestions. She has a good appetite, and doesn't look or seem to be sick. But I rather know and get some answers.

Nothing so far, has only started happening the past 5 days. She has been weened off her milk and eating a mixture of my dog tin chicken food, some raw meat (little bits) and Eukinaba puppy pellets. She has half the my dog little tin in the morning, and then some pellets and then the same at night, with a little puppy milk formula.

This may be due to intestinal upset from any change in food, intestinal parasites such as worms, coccidia, or giardia, or she could have a viral infection starting too as she is too young to have completed her shots.
Intestinal parasites are one likely thing to be bothering her. You can bring a fresh stool sample to the vet to be checked so the vet can give the right worm meds or antibiotics if the problem is a protozoan infection such as coccidia or giardia or campylobactor.
This could also be due to a swallowed non food item, ingestion of something toxic including plants, mushrooms, chemicals etc.
So seeing the vet to find out what is going on would be a good idea.
For home care you can add some plain pedialyte to the water bowl to help with hydration.
You can also see if bland food will help your pet feel better.
I would suggest trying boiled chicken meat or hamburger with the fat drained off, mixed with really well cooked rice in a ratio of 1/3 meat to 2/3 rice to see if that works. It's not a balanced diet but OK to use for a few meals while working on controlling digestive upset.
The fiber in the rice will help bind up fluids.
I find using the pedialyte and the bland diet along with the meds from the vet helps a dog out a lot and that you can slowly get the dog back on a regular food diet as it feels better. I would not use any over the counter anti diarrhea medication as if this is from a bacterial infection you do not want the bowels to slow that much until the bacteria is treated.
I'd plan a vet visit for your new pup and a thorough check over by your vet including a stool sample check to make sure you got the healthy pet you were expecting.
Hope this helps you!

Answer

You are welcome - you can always call the vet and ask for a call back on the problem too. Some vets will call you with advice as a follow up on surgery if there is a question.

Thanks for the above accept!
