Question

I work in childcare and I'm being investigated over a little boy whom after I put him in line he had gotten out of line therefore I left him behind and didn't realize it. A nice civilian put the child in thir car and drove him to the police station. I'm looking at child neglect. My future falls in the hands of the cps worker. It was a mistake and an accident but he is okay and the parents are not pressing charges. If i'm founded that means I can no longer finish my schooling that I'm doing to become a nurse. I wont beable to work around the kids whom I love. should I get an attorney for this matter or wait it out and see what happens? I'm not sure what to do.

Answer

You should absolutely have an attorney by now and you SHOULD NOT be speaking to anyone including CPS without one. Child neglect on something like this could get you a sentence of up to 5 years in prison, even if the parents do not want to pursue it, not to mention what it could do to your future career.
