Answer

Hello; Thank you for writing in today. The vaginal discharge you describe is most often related to yeast infections. It is not uncommon for women to develop yeast infections. Yeast infections occur when there is an imbalance in the normal flora of the vagina. Any number of things can cause this imbalance. For example, douching, antibiotics, and illness can cause this problem. I would recommend an evaluation by your provider to confirm a diagnosis. If this is in fact a yeast infection, this type of infection is usually easily treated with a short regimen of medication. As for your increased sweating, this could be caused by any number of things. Since you likely have an infection, this could be a response to that infection, particularly if the infection has been present for some time and spread. Also, certain metabolic disorders, such as diabetes, can increase your risk of yeast infections and increased diaphoresis (sweating). At this point, both the vaginal discharge and sweating should be evaluated by your provider. He/she will likely want to check your blood count for infection and possibly metabolic disorders. If you do have a vaginal infection and it is treated, your sweating may return to your normal baseline. If all other concerns are ruled out, you may just have overactive sweat gland activity. However, there are options for treating this as well. I hope this helps explain. If you have any additional questions, concerns, or need clarification, please let me know. Lisa

Thanks Lisa - I have also noticed my urine is smellier I should have said that too. I presume that this is also a side effect of a yeast infection.

Answer

Thank you for responding. You could also have a urinary tract infection. It's not uncommon for a woman to have both a bladder and vaginal infection. This actually increases the importance of evaluation to confirm a diagnosis. I hope you can arrange an appointment soon. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Lisa
