Hi Jim, The experience you had can be quite frightening. I do have a question or two.
Did you loose consciousness during this tremulous period? Do you have a headache? Have you taken any medications scheduled or something for fever or pain? How long after the period did you take your temperature?
I will do my best to help you. Please add any additional information that will help me. Karen
Hi Karen
I did not lose consciousness but it seemed difficult to wake up "completely"; therefre I tested myself with the counting and birthdates issues. I am not on any meds. I only take a multiple vitamin for old guys I do not have a headache, nor did I have one at the time. I felt slightly warm at the time but I'm quite sure it was only low grade if at all.
Typically my BP is pretty low so I wondered if I just had a BP crash (if there is such a thing) or....
Hi, Thanks for your quick responce. The experience of severe tremors could represent a seizure. This is quite unlikely as it sounds like it was not localized to one side of your body, and you did not loose consciousness. Considering your good health record it seems like you may be having a relapse for the flu. The experience of tremors for a period of 5 minutes without loss of consciousness would lead me to believe you were experiencing a reaction where bacteria or virus is being released into the blood stream. Most often there is a high spiking fever about 5 minutes after this episode, however in some cases the actual temperature rise is not present. The aching of the muscles would go along with the flu being in your system, could be from the tremor however I wouldn't expect it to be quite this debilitating. I would suggest you contact your MD and have some blood work done. A recurrance of the flu can be quite severe.
The H1N1 flu endemic we are seeing is the one that was arount in 1958 it is likely you had the flu then and would be immune to a serious case of it now. Of course you were quite young then and may not remember if you had or were exposed to it.
I do suggest you rest, maintain your fluid intake and follow your temperature, Take either tylenol or asa for your temperature. Contact your MD by phone and be sure to be seen if you record a temperature of 101..5
