Question

My computer is running slower than it should. I already have 2.5GB of ram installed but i find that my video display is exceptionally slow. I am considering upgrading with a video card, but I really don't know anything about video cards and whether my motherboard will support what i am looking at. I can provide all the details of my pc at your request.

Answer

Hi XXXXXXXXX.

The slowness can be due to several reasons.

Virus scan, corrupt system files are the main issue.

Backing up your data and performing a clean installation of windows should eliminate all those clutter.

Else you should run a virus scan ,perform disc cleanup and defragmentation.

There are several ways to fasten up the system.

I have gone through the report.

Now regrading the slowness i ealier adviced you some steps to follow .

Please follow those to improve your system performance. If that doesn't help back up your system and go for a clean installation of windows..

Now about the graphics card. You have on AGP slot and two PCI slots.

But the latest graphics card require PCI express slots which your motherboard doesn't support,

So your AGP card is good enough. You neednot upgrade it.

Just upgrade your graphics driver.

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonaiw_xp.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.9&lang=English

IF you still want to go for an upgrade here are your options:-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131161

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2118-6.html

But why i am not asking you to upgrade your card is because its costly.

JUst performing a clean installation of windows and update your graphics driver.

I can assure you that you will ahve a very good performance from your system.
