When do I receive my promised Windows7 Upgrade that I registered for in October with the #HVTVWJ1? Dick Zabriskie

Answer

Dick, without other personal information (which I'd never ask for anyway) I can't tell you directly, but (if I'm understanding your question correctly) you can use this page to see the status of your order if you ordered the upgrade direct from Microsoft. https://windows7upgradeoption.com/TrackYourOrder.aspx If this isn't correct, you don't need to accept, just reply back telling me which part I miss-understood. Thanks!

I guess you've done your part, but as I track "the order" with Dell, it appears that I have not submitted an order form, because I didn't get one with my computer in August. Somehow I was able to register on line for the Windows7 Upgrade, and they sent me an e-mail on October 22nd which said: "Thank you for registering for the Dell Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program. The following is a summary of your service tags: HVTVWJ1 Registered. You will receive an e-mail notice when Windows 7 is available for order on Dell Systems.

I have not received any further e-mails, and when I go on their website they ask for Order#'s etc. which I do not have. When I try to phone their Program Team with the number they provide, there is no human answer, and finally the words, Thanks for calling. It seems impossible to reach a person with my concern without paying a large fee for a technician. Thanks for your help.

Well before we put this to rest, when you call that number (if you're not familiar with automated phone system that the big guys (dell, HP, Microsoft) use, they're pretty advanced and always allow for some sort of way to get to a human being. How nice they'll be, and how much you'll be able to hold a relevant conversation I can't guarantee though :) Try this. When it's giving you options, or asking for information. Hit the 0 button. Zero is universal phone code for "I don't know whats going on, I want help!". If that doesn't work, you can try the *. Sometimes that will take you to base menus that give you options. 0 is probably your best bet though. I know one of my vendors just put a new system in, that when it recognizes frustration (large change in volume) it will automatically put the user through to a person. So maybe try yelling at the computer?! :P Might at least make you feel better!
