Question

2000 Tundra 8 cylinder has a misfire on number 2 cylinder. Already changed plugs. Possible causes?

Answer

As long as the only code in the computer is P0302 (Cylinder #2 Misfire), then more than likely you are going to need the ignition coil (coil-on-plug) for cylinder #2. Cylinder #2 is the one closest to the front of the vehicle, on the passenger's side.

  • DISCONNECT IGNITION COIL CONNECTOR
  • REMOVE IGNITION COIL FROM SPARK PLUG

  • Remove the bolt, and pull out the ignition coil

    The codes also show both 0xygen sensors on the passenger side are bad. Can one cause the other?

    Absolutely. With the vehicle misfiring, the un-burnt fuel is passing by the O2 sensors and fouling them out. After swapping that coil out, the O2 sensors should clear themselves out. Fix the misfire first, as it will have effect on many other systems.
