Question

I recently ran over a buoy in a harbor with my boat. The boat continued to run fine unless I put it in reverse and slowly back up. When in reverse the outboard engine begins to jump up and down. I visually inspected prop and shaft and could not find any evidence of damage or debri. Is this just a coincidence that this problem has developed after hitting buoy and can something else be causing this
