Question

1994 CHRYSLER LEBARON LE 4-DR; AUTO; 3.0L V-6; 132k miles; 2nd Owner; MINT. Problem: Even though the shift lever Indicator is in (D), the trans won't shift out of 2nd. Upshifts fine from 1 to 2, but now won't go into D. Just happened. NO prior problems with trans. Took it to a local shop where they "adjusted" the shift levers. Fixed it. Run/shifted fine. For 1 day. Now back to original problem. They don't want to get into the shifting stuff in the car anymore. "Take it to a Chrysler dealer." No dealer near, but a Ford dealer hired many of the Chrysler mechanics when the Chrysler dealer closed this year. Anyway, what do you think is the problem: Shift levers, etc., or the trans itself? Sound to me like the shifter cable is worn out. Have it replaced and see what happens.

Is this part & repair within the abilities of an above average local non-make specific to do properly? Of must it go to a shop with certified Mopar mechanics?

Yes. Pretty much any shop can perform this repair. Not a very complicated job.
