Question

My 6 year old lab has yellow discharge coming from her eyes. It started five days ago in one eye and now both. She seems unaffected, good appetite and energy??

The yellow discharge and transference from one eye to the next could mean that she has a bacterial infection in the eye.

 

I would recommend having her seen by your veterinarian as she may require antibiotics.

The discharge could be symptom of eye infection or could be a sign of other underlining health issues such as an upper respiratory infection.

 

You can clean her eyes with a sterile saline solution such as the ones we use for contacts. I would only do this until she can be seen by your vet and would not consider this a treatment for the problem.
