Question

Frequently postings made about 3-4 PM arrive on my computer 4-5 hours later. Is there anyway I can speed up the delivery time from a few specified senders like my kids teachers, etc.

Info Request

Hello,

I will be happy to assist you with your issue, but first I need a little information.

Are you talking about e-mails being sent and then taking a long time to get there?
Are you talking about postings to a website?

Let me know...

E-mails being sent and taking hours to arrive. Specifically from the kid's teachers about homework for the next day. Arriving after the kid's bedtime is useless.

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately there are only a few things that affect how long e-mails take to arrive, and none of them are really things you can configure on your computer.

The outgoing mail takes a certain amount of time to actually get OUT of the mail servers at the outbound location.

The incoming mail server will also take a certain amount of time to process the mail before delivering it to your inbox. Plus any proxies that are in between those two server.

Typically web based e-mail servers like Yahoo or G-mail are slower than ISP's like Comcast, Charter, or an Exchange server that you might use at work.

I am sorry, I wish I had better information for you, but there is no way to improve the speed of incoming mail from specific senders by doing anything on your computer. Or even by contacting your internet service provider. All I could really suggest would be to try a different type of e-mail. If you use Yahoo, try G-mail, or vice-versa.
