Hello and thank you for the question.
If he is vomiting due to an increase in stomach acid overnight he may not feel like eating first thing in the morning.
You are correct that feeding later in the evening is often helpful, you can try giving Pepcid AC 30 minutes before the evening meal and again in the morning. Continue to feed the later meal.
Here is a link to the recommend dosage for your fur baby.

What dosage do you recommend of Pepcid AC. I just had him at the vet and he weighs about 23-25 lbs. (I also had the vet do more blood work because of the on-going problem with vomiting and thought he should be checked out again). Everything was normal except he has an underactive thyroid and put him on some medicine for that. I am to have him rechecked in about 4 months. He also gave me some anti-vomit medicine (I can't remember the name, something that started with an M) but I know that this is not a solution to what I feel he has; reflux gastritis vomiting syndrome.
The link that I sent will give you the proper dosage for the pepcid Ac as well as all over the counter medications approved for pets.
1/2 tablet twice a day should be helpful.
You may also see a difference once the thyroid medications begin working.
I am sending this as an info request so you are not asked to pay again.
I have not seen any side effects from this medication.
You may be able to cut back to once a day in the evening if it seems to be working after a few days.
As I stated in the answer it is also possible this problem was associated with the under active thyroid, and may approve once the thyroid is regulated.
The first time I had blood work run was when he was 1 year old. At that time, nothing came back showing an under-active thyroid unless normal blood work doesn't show this? I know he checked to see if the kidneys and liver were functioning properly at this time.
The 2nd time which was a few weeks ago (Murphy will be 3 this month) the vet ran more extensive blood work (I belive because it cost more). Again, I know he checked the kidneys and liver again as well as heartworm and lyme.
Being that the vet didn't find the under-active thyroid at 1 year old, I'm not so sure that the thyroid issue is causing any problems, unless it wasn't checked the first time. Is this something normal blood work would show?
No a comprehensive blood panel that is normally done to check the liver and kidneys does not test the thyroid levels.
The more extensive and more costly blood panel that was most likely done the second time would include a T-4 or thyroid test.
