Question

Hi, I have an ache that seems to come and go. It is in the left hand side of my body beytween hip and bottom of ribcage. It does move about sometimes creeping nearer my back but at the same height and sometimes nearer my front and pelvis. I might describe it sometimes as a tickly ache. I don't notice any other symptoms, apart from a general feeling of not being quite 100%, and maybe some bloating. I have been checked out by a Gastro expert twice earlier this year who couldn't find anything, and have recently had a full health check and they didn't find anytihng either. They put it down to stresses and strains. I do suffer from some food allergies, and am going to get some allergy testing done. I am also wondering if it might be muscular, its worse when I am sat down. I have revised seating position (desk job), and now loosen trousers whilst sat down. Any help appreciated.

What tests or imaging have been done?

Has your bowel pattern changed?

The Gastro expert checked my rear for prostate issues, and did a wide variety of blood tests, including cancer markers (on my wishes not his). He also tested for lactose and wheat intolerance. The full medical covered general blood tests, kdney and liver function, heart lungs, and general stuff like eyes hearing etc. I did see a doctor as part of the exam, he felt my abdomen and couldn't find anything. Bowell pattern maybe looser, a colleague suggested aloe vera, and they made the bowell movement more solid. He takes them for IBS. My main exercise is mountain biking, but it doesnt hurt when I do it.

Accepted Answer

It could be from food allergies and mild inflammation or swelling of the bowel.

However in your work up I did not see any CT scan or Ultrasound. I think that would be the next step. Your left abdomen houses your spleen and kidney (as well as intestines)

You could have inflammation or enlargment of the spleen but not enough enlarged to be felt by your doctor.
