Question

On the 15th sept I found out I was pregnant then on the 20th I started spotting with cramping so on the 23rd I went to doc and he said its possibly a misscarriage. Ended up been the case went in and out of hosp till my HCG got to one. The bleeding and spotting stopped on the 9th oct but then I started bleeding again on the 25th and finished the 30th, I presume it was my period but I now am bleeding again since yesterday with a good bit of pain especially in the evening. Should I go to my doctor or leave it for a few days an see does it stop I am so sick of bleeding now. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It was light yesterday but starting to get heavier now but the pain is as bad if not worse than period pain so I feel it will get as heavy as a period. I haven't contacted my doctor yet as I am afraid of going to the hosp again I am just sck of it. My docos brill so I was going to see how it goes and maybe go friday if it doesn't stop. I just don't know as this is my first miscarriage after having one child already with a section.

Accepted Answer

Dear pod,

Thank you for the information,

There are some common causes of such bleeding like hormonal imbalance, vaginal infection, PID, stress, anxiety, emotions, etc.

It may take 3-6 weeks time for the normal periods to resume after the miscarriage. The prolonged period may be due to incomplete miscarriage and should be ruled out.The hormonal imbalance after the miscarriage may also be associated with such bleeding.

You should have the relevant investigations done like uterine sonography, blood counts, hormonal profile, pap smear to know the associated abnormality after consulting your doctor.

The treatment depends on the underlying cause. The D&C may be performed in cases of incomplete abortion.

Let me know if you have any doubt.

Thank you!
