Question

I have a 2005 Honda CRV that has not been driven or started in about 6 months. When I tried to start it, the battery was dead of course. I replaced the battery but it still won't start. My son says t he fuel has probably thickened so the fuel line most likely needs to be bled. Is this true and if so is this something we can do or would I need to have the car towed to a mechanic to have it done.

Accepted Answer

6 months is probably not long enough for the fuel to thicken to a point where it will cause a problem. The fuel pump presure is great enough to where air is not going to get into the system and cause the fuel line to have to be bled. Check the spark plugs first, if they are wet with gas or black with carbon build up replace them and see what happens. If they look okay you will need to determine if you have lost spark or fuel control that would be causing the vehicle not to start.
