Hello my name is Eric,
Welcome to Just Answer
Please post a model number and tell me
What number best describes you?
1. I just want to know what to expect a repairman to charge me,
2.I want to try pushing buttons and checking connections
3. I will open the TV if needed, but have limited tools and skills
4. I have technical skills and have a soldering iron and or voltmeter
If I have helped you with your issue please click accept.
If you have more questions you can still respond until this post expires,
I will reply asap
Thanks
Eric
If the colors are wavy and will not move using the remote convergence menu your ICs are most likely bad, plus possibly a few resistors.
You can only adjust the red and blue in the customer menu, the all 3 colors can be adjusted in the service menu. If the ICs are bad (probably are) after you solder new ones in you may not need to do any adjustments , so leave the adjustments alone if . If you would prefer a repairman fix the set the ICs can be replaced for between $300 and $400
here is the DIY (do it yourself) info
this model PTV has two convergence ICs on a large heatsink (metal thing with fins on it) . taking it apart will require 1/4" and other driver bits and involves unplugging delicate cables and other cables that should be marked if unplugged.
I will not go into detail about how to take the board out, but know this there are a few philips screws holding it down after removing the back. The ICs are screwed to the large heatsink and when replacing make sure there is some heatsink compound on the metal to metal surfaces. also look carefully at the resistors near the ICs and check the pico fuses that supply the two voltages -35 and +35, usually I find one burnt pico fuse 5amp or 3.15amp . The two ICs are part # STK392-560 or stk392-110 available online for around $15 each here
Make sure which one your TV uses by checking whats written on them
Install the ICs and if the blue is still off check the supplying pico fuse for the blue. (I just check the pico fuse on the power supply the two convergence ones are side by side each other)
Hope this helps, if it has solved your issue please click accept and close out the request
But if you have more questions please respond and I will reply asap
You will need to replace at least the red convergence IC, I always replace both together.
probably have a blown 3.15 amp fuse too
i send to u a picture how luck the image so probably this help u a little more
Thank you,
You still need convergence ICs replaced .
see the red is doubled , that is what is going on.
Did you want more info on fixing this?
They are soldered in
I don't know, some distroy the Tv trying.
without experience soldering you may ruin the TV.
I'd say just pay a tech $300 and don't risk it
its up to you
can you now help telling me in where pleace in the tv i can find those circuits please
The ICs are screwed to the largemetal heatsink with fins on it.
To buy new ICs click here
they look like
Location on the board is IC1502
Yes change both IC1502 and IC1506
Check both fuses F651 and F652
Please Click Accept for my expert solution!
Best of Luck!
IC1502 and IC1506 are the schematic location #s
These #s may be written on the circuit board.
I don't think there are more than two of these large ICs in your TV.
So it seems you have found them.
I do not mind helping you, but noticed you have not clicked accept yet,
Please click accept and I will continue to answer questions
I can provide limited help you do it yourselfers,
I can not train you on:
Safety when working around electronic current
Disassembling and handling of delicate circuit boards
Soldering or replacing components
There are many videos on these topics on the internet,
please do your own search on ehow.com or youtube.com
You may make the TV unrepairable if you crack a board or short out something
Do it yourself at your own risk, I have actually given my advice that you should not attempt this self repair.
I will help until we reach the limit of the help I can provide.
If you don't know about Tvs and have not soldered ICs before you should probably call a repairman.
Many have messed up their TVs to be unrepairable.
If you are saying you already replaced the ICs, just replace both fuses
The fuses are on the power board, (The G board I think) they can not be measured in circuit even if you had a voltmeter. The voltage needs to be checked.on both sides
To buy some click here about $5 for a 5 pack of 5A (5amp) pico fuses
Radio Shack may have them also
i take a picture those are the fuse number F651 and F652 and the board. Question both fuse have 5 amp or have diferents thank again
Both are 5 amps, if you have a voltmeter measure them after desoldering one end.
Or just install new ones.
Hey wheres my accept?
I've given alot here!
