Hello,
I am sorry your dog is having trouble. You can apply benedryl topical lotion or use the gentocin topical spray that you have twice a day. You can even give him some benedryl by mouth, 1mg per pound of body weight. You can give the benedryl every 8 hours. It may also be necessary to put a t-shirt on him to keep him from chewing and licking the spot, and if a t-shirt doesn't work, then you will need to get an e-collar, which you can get from your vet or from your local pet store. If the topical ointments or sprays in combination with the antibiotics and benedryl by mouth don't provide some relief within the next 36 hours, you might want to call your vet and let them know how uncomfortable your dog is. There are oral medicines that can be stronger than benedryl to help with itching if necessary. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. If this has been helpful, please hit the green accept button. Best of luck with your handsome man, I hope he feels better soon :)
