my wife is dying with cancer I took over the bill paying and found out that she has credit card debt that I was not aware of. I am not a cosigner on these accounts but we are on the home mortage together. Am I going to be held responsible for paying off this debt?

I just found this out last week, so I have not tried anything thus far she was given 3 to 6 months to live this past Thursday and that's when I took over paying the bills.

Yes this debt occured during the marriage.

the creditors would eventually come after you for the amounts owed under a default judgement action seeking to garnish wages and/or freeze bank accounts.
