Question

I recently noticed a pain in my left breast/ribcage area when laying on my left side to watch TV. I didn't pay any attention to it, but it has been nagging me for almost 12 days now. Upon inspection in the mirror, I raised my left arm above my head, then slightly pulled my left breast to the right so I could see better in the mirror, and when I did, a visible "line" showed up that resembled a "string" (only instead of being raised, it was indented) that seems to originat near my left nipple, and curves downward and outward to my left side, all the way to the bottom of my ribcage. There is pain associated with it, but minimal. Is this a blood clot of some sort?

Dear XXXXXXX, Thank you for writing in to JustAnswer Health with your question. Does the pain seem to be in the breast tissue or in the chest? Either way, any difference noted in breast tissue is important, and you need to go in to see your doctor so that testing (likely a mammography) can be done. The movement, where you lifted up your arm, is one that would normally be done on a self breast exam -- did you check to see if the similar marking was present on the other side when you lifted your arm and pulled the breast to the side? There are several things that could cause an inflammation of a lymph node or duct in or near your breast and only by examination and testing will it be determined. I am not sure if this is a blood clot? Do you ask that because you see some bruising or discoloration, or did you have some trauma to the breast?

Well, I don't know of any trauma to my left breast area, but the pain is all the way down this vein (it is NOW raised), and you can "push" the blood backwards, and watch the blood fill up the vein and it is turning red. I have also been feeling (in the last few hours) slight "tinges" of pain in between my breasts, as if in two separate veins, and also along the left side of my neck, as well as the right side of my ribcage, all the way down my right side, through my abdomen area, and stopping just below my right knee. I didn't mean to make it sound as if I was obese earlier (moving my breast with my hand to get a better look), but I'm a 43 year old male who is 5'8" tall, and weighs around 210 lbs. I'm getting kinda worried. I think it may be a clot of some sort???
