Question

I have just purchased a new laptop with windows 7 on it. When I try to dowload media from Newzbin or NZB'sRUS using Grabit the selected media shows no file name, hence if I select save nothing is there to download. Have I missed something or is there a compatibility problem? Normally the file type would show up as 'Grabit nzb file' regards eddie

Answer

Hi,

Have you tried "running as an administrator"?

Right click the NewsBin Icon and select "Run as Administrator". Does it work now?

If it does, you can make it always open with the administrator rights by rightclicking on the icon, selecting properties, then on teh compatibility tab, check the "run this program as an administrator".

please let me know if this solved your issue or not.

thanks!

Answer

Look into all programs and locate the newzbin icon....this is an application so it will have the option. You might be clicking on a shortcut.

Shortcuts do not show the option.

tried your suggestion with no luck. What I have found is that the updated (2009) grabit has an extra option in its FOLDER header when selecting preferences in EDIT.downloads point to grabit downloads, extract files points to the same but there is another option headed Cache, this point to appdata\roaming\grABIT. should this point to the same destination as the others?

no...cache is ok there.

Please do the following.....the option is there...you are having an issue finding it.

Open windows explorer

navigate to c:\program files\newsbin

locate the newsbin exe file

right click on it, select run as an administrator.

SORRY TRIED THAT AND IT'S NOT THERE. IS IT WORTH DELETING NEWZBIN AND GOING FOR A REINSTALL?

I would try it....but I'm sure that's gonna be more time consuming.

All apps have that option....I am not sure what you are looking at....but VISTA and 7 both have that option for running apps.

did you try on the EXE file?

GREAT! :)

ok,

you need to open the port in the firewall...

in control panel

click on system and security

click on windows firewall

click on advanced settings (on the left side of the screen)

enable the inbound port 119. You neeed to create an inbound rule....I suppose you already have the router configured to forward 119 to your IP
