Question

i have had a brake light out for quite a while. recently the other brake light went out. i went to the auto parts store and purchased bulbs. when i put them into the brake light, they don't work. also, when i tested other bulbs from the tail lights (which were working) in the brake lights, they didn't work either. also, the new bulbs work fine in the tail lights, but not the brake lights. any thoughts? i have a 2000 hyundai elantra. thank you!

Accepted Answer

Check the 15 amp fuse in location 3 of the dash fuse box if fuse is good then you can remove the brake lamp switch and connect both of the terminals together to see if the brake lights come on if so replace switch if not verify to see if bulbs have good power and ground then go from there. Here is a wire diagram and picture location of brake switch. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks
