you need to check your world net settings on the eudora program and compare them with what worldnet says they should be. it would be under tools / accounts / servers. it is possible they have moved or renamed their incoming or pop3 server. or you may have lost the password. or they have gone to secure encryption.
try all of these as the pop3 ( incoming ) mail server hopefully one will work. most likely the last one. it seems that att uses different mail servers when you are going through an depending on whether you are going through an att internet line or not
postoffice.worldnet.att.net
postoffice.att.net
ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net requires secure log in SSL
your id should be your email address. you will have to know your password
try taking the password out and see if it prompts you for one. just want to see if you are connecting at all. you havent done anything like set up a rule to send the mail to another folder or an out of office reply i assume.
try disabling any firewall or virus protection sometimes emails will get stuck in a half working antivirus program that tries to screen them before downloading and if its not working correctly it will never release them.
Eudora requires the password to be re-entered whenever settings are changed. When I enter the wrong password, I get no error message that the password was incorrect.
I haven't changed any rules/folders or out of office reply, I can't even find the place to do it.
I am (and have been all along) using Norton Firewall & Antivirus (I think its the 2007 version - updated regularly). I've disabled both and still no luck.
ok lets try to figure out if it is eudora or the mail server. do you have outlook express? it comes with most windows versions. if you cant find it go to internet options on the control panel then programs and switch the default email from eudora to outlook express and it should pop up on your start menu. create a new account in outlook express and put in the same server information etc. under servers check the box that says leave a copy on the server. that will leave any mail on the server so that you can still get it on eurora if we can get that fixed. let me know if you get any mail through the outlook client.
I am (was) in love with Eudora. I don't think deleting the account or even reinstalling the software will be a solution, as Eudora 5.1 ceased to function with Worldnet, simultaneously, on 3 different computers.
It would appear that I need to find a desirable solution elsewhere.
ok i think your best bet is too ugrade the eudora. they are up to version 8. it is quite possible that the worldnet server no longer supports the old version for some reason.
