i had a baby in january of 2009. until her birth i claimed 0. once she was born i have been claiming 2 - i am unmarried. i just found out i am pregnant again and due in july - my question is how much more will i recieve on my paychecks once this new baby is born. im trying to make the best possible decisions for my family financially and am really worried! thanks - oh, before taxes i make approximately 850 a week

Hello kittys,

For each exemption that you claim, what it does is exempt $3,650 from your annual pay from being subject to taxes. In your salary range, this would mean a savings of another 15% in federal tax and approximately 5% in CA state taxes on that amount.

So your paychecks should have approximately $10.50 less withheld each week for federal tax and $3.50 less on CA state tax, for a total of $14 less each week in taxes.
