Question

I have a mercruiser I/O 4.3 190 hp on a SeaRay 185 Sport. I had a Stingray hydrofoil stabilizer mounted on the transon and it worked great for planing the boat when it is loaded and especially for getting the skiers out of the water sooner. Since then, I SeaRay service mounted a swim platform on the back and on one occasion I raised the transon, the fin hit the ladder and broke the mounting plate on the transon. I had it welded and want to put a hydrofoil back on. I now know not to raise the transon too high so the fin doesn't hit the ladder. But, I also now know there is a trim limit switch on either side of the transon and I think I need to adjust the trim on the port side so the transon does not raise too high when I take it out of the water. Please tell me how to adjust the trim on the port side so it will not raise the transon too high when I put the hydrofoil back on and are there any special tools needed. It looks like only a phillip screwdriver is needed.

Optional Information

Make (of engine): Mercruiser
Model (of engine): MCM 4.3 liter
Year: 2005
Horsepower: 190

Already Tried:
Identified where the trim adjustments are, but not sure how to adjust do the transon does not raise up so far when I pull the boat out of the water. It has plenty of clearance if I don't raise it up so far.

Answer

Mercury makes a trim limit block that goes inside both the trim cylinders to keep the outdrive from raising to far up.

When I took my boat to have the platform put on I had asked them if there was a way to adjust the transom or if there was a limit switch and they told me that there is no way to put a limit on how far the transom will raise up. If a limit block is available, please tell me the part number so I can call the service dept to verify and order. Thanks. Rod
