Question

On October 13th I was diagnosed with Bronchitis. They gave me Levaquin as an anitbiotic. I was running a 102 fever then the fever stopped in about 24 hours. I finished the antibiotics on October 22nd. Had gone back to school(where I work) on October 20th. Saw my Dr. on October 26th for a check up. Everything was good. This sunday I woke up with a feve of 102. Called my Dr.'s answering service. He called me back and said I probably have the flu,put me on Tamiflu. I no longer have a fever,it's like this flu was a 24 hour bug. Or could there be something else going on?

Answer

Hello,

You probably caught the Flu after recovering from the bronchitis, when your immune system was weakened and you were vulnerable to catch an infection.

If you have finished your Tamiflu prescription and no longer have a fever, then you are not infective and can resume your normal activity.

Kind Regards,

I just started taking tamiflu yesterday and had the fever yesterday and now am feeling better today. Can the swine flu only last 1 day?

Accepted Answer

Hello,

The symptoms of fever, runny nose, diarrhea etc generally last a number of days, but the severity would depend on the inherent immunity of the individual.

I would advise you to complete the course of Tamiflu, and not stop taking it because you feel better.

Kind Regards,

Dr.Joshi
