Question

Hello I have a 2 and a half year old male neutered West Highland Terrier. He is a completely softy and loves to play with other westies in the park. I am looking at getting him a companion and ideally would like a male one. Can this be done as I have been told that I would have to get a female one.

Hi there,

Would you be getting a puppy or an adult dog?

Thanks,

Terri

Ideally a puppy, however we would bet the puppy neutered once he was old enough.

Accepted Answer

Dear friend,

I do not foresee any problem with your boy accepting a male puppy. He sounds like a lovable, social guy.

However, do introduce them on neutral territory:

Dont just bring the puppy in and drop him into your boys territory. Accept that your dog will want to teach the puppy manners. That is normal.

Supervise their interaction for the first few days.

Please let me know how things are going. I will always be here for you.

Warmest best wishes,

Terri
