Question

My pain management doc has recommend predizone in addition to the cortizone injections he is already giving me. I'm having massive muscle soreness in glutias maximun and minor and dislocated tailbone, L2, saccrum and L4 disks. i'm also having major gastritas. Do you think the prednazone will make my stomach pain worse?

Hello Colleen. Welcome to JustAnswer. Yes, prednisone is an corticosteriod and can cause bloating or stomach ache and even stomach ulceration as an adverse effect. Further it can even cause diarrhoea as it can disrupt normal intestinal flora. But it can be used with caution regulating the dose if the main use's advantage weighs more than these side effects , depending upon evaluation by your doctor. Regulation of dose is especially important, if patient has any active or latent stomach ulcer (In non-specific ulcerative collitis with chances of perforation or abscess formation, renal insufficiency, diabetes and hypertension too) Hope this helps.
