Question

Almost one month ago, my car was rear ended.I sustained a concussion and whiplash. I was nauseated for the first two or three days. Most of that has resolved, but I still have digestive problems daily that I didn't have been I hit my head--indigestion every time I eat, stomach cramping and acid reflux. Is this still a normal course of healing from the concussion? Is there anything I can do to help this? Thanks.

Hello,

This indigestion and acid reflux etc, is unlikely to be from a concussion.

Some after effect like nausea can linger for a few days, but a month is too long a time after a concussion to cause a nausea nad GI symptoms.

This can be from a traumatic hiatal hernia that is causing these symptoms.

You need to have better control ove this heart burn and GI symptoms by taking Proton Pump Inhibhitors like Pirlosec twice a day 1/2 hour before meals, that would sufficiently reduce acid content in your stomach to prevent these symptoms.

Kind Regards,

Dr.Joshi
