Question

Hi. I have a Canon Power Shot A1000 IS. I just returned from Africa, and just before I got ready to come home, I lost the ability to see what I am shooting in the screen; I have to use the viewfinder. I've been through the menu, tried everything, but have many icons that are showing up on my screen that I don't understand. And I've lost the manual, I expect somewhere in Kenya, so I can't refer to it. I'm leaving for Mexico in a couple of days, and would love my screen back; can you help me? One more thing. The screen works, because when I push the little triangle button top right of my camera back, I can see pictures I've already taken. I just can't see the one I want to take. Thanks! - XXXXXXXX XXXXX

I've gone through the menu, but since I don't have the manual any longer, I'm unsure what some of the instructions mean. Another thing - is it possible to get another manual, or is there one online?

Info Request

Hello,

Press display (DISP.) button to turn the display on. This button is located on the rear of the camera and toggles the camera's LCD display.

The button is usually printed with <DISP.> on the button or above the button depending on the model.

If pressing the <DISP.> button doesn't turn the display on, remove and replace the batteries in the camera.

Great. I thought that meant "dispose." Duh. Thanks! You just improved my trip to Mexico more than you know.
