Hi there,
Thank you for writing in today.
Most likely your nose bleed has no serious pathology. As the cold weather sits in, people start to experience more dryness. As the mucosa dries up, blood vessels become more frail and bleed much easier then normal. The blood vessel which bled probably didn't heal well enough before it was re-injured. If you experience frequent nose bleeds (especially with cold weather), you should have a humidifier at home and also do routine saline sinus rinses as it provides moisture for the nostrils and dryness is improved. You can also put a very small amount of vasoline in each nostril (at bedtime) to improve moisture.
If you never had your platelet counts checked, that is something you might want to consider. Platelets are responsible for blood clotting and, if for some reason, you have low platelet counts, it can explain frequent nose bleeds. I doubt that you have something like this since with this condition you would have nose bleeds equally common during all seasons.
Finally, if you continue to bleed through the same nostril, you might want to see ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) specialist and they can cauterize (burn off) the burning blood vessel.
I hope this was helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
