I am an anaesthesiologit too and i have seen many headaches of people who have low csf production or scf continous leak from the base of the brain. IT may trickle down from the back of throat if the child has had suffering from sinusitis, or a sudden jerk in a car, a forehead accident,continous sneezing , jerky sneezing, allergic sinusitis, fungal infection of base of brain... and the list is long.. IN your child case it looks to me that since a blood patch was used, he must be having a leak from a bad LUMBAR PUNCTURE. His dural covering at L4-L5 level must have been not closed well and that the hole made by repeated punctures have been aggrevating this condition. So this is definate that he has a csf leak at L4-L5 LEVEL OR L5-S1 OR L3-L4 LEVEL. OR all the holes punctured must be leaking the cerebro spinal fluid. and the dura at that level doesnot get closed because it does not have tissue there to form a fibrous web to stop the leak.nor does it have sufficent blood flow to form a clot or close the hole.i shall send you a next message on how to heal him scientifically in four days time. before going for a myelogram one must be sure that his history of lumbar puncture, and what needles were used(bore of the needles), how many puncture s were made, is he suffering from sinusitis, allergies , jerky sneezing, foot ball player, uses his head to push the ball to the next player , or does any exercise which involves the skull, like standing on the vertex of skull , or any acrobatics done,many such questions must be asked because its necessary to suplement with more water and sodium , electrolytes, head low position, no pillows, feet end raised , and complete bed rest for 7 days , no sitting, no standing , and water intake should be about 3 litres per day , plenty of water intake is the best home treatment a wrongly done myelogram can do worse, and please ASK for a expert anaesthesiologist doctor to do this , and not by a nurse or a theatre assistant, nor even a pediatrition. if you like my answer respond me asp

hello, the car accident has triggered a fracture to the base of the brain, may be cribiform plate of the brain,so a x ray of the base of brain is necessary., also one must concider a basal meningitis(mild in nature) neuro must be seen asap. till you go toa neuro , please start this simple treatment 1) absolute bed rest 2) 3 to 4.5 litres of fluids in any form to be given(because the loss of csf must be compensated by oral fluids, normally a man has fluid intake of three litres daily but in his case the intake must be 1500ml more than normal to compensate the loss of body fluid from the leak 3) plenty of table salt about 15 grams per day in any form, the best form is wafers which are salted. 4)he must not even sit up when he is taking absolute bed rest. 5) espazine or eskazine 1mg tablet two times a day. 6) diclofenac sodium 50 mg three times a day 7)antibiotics to prevent meningitis. 8) a fungal brain infection of the sinusis must also be concidered. please copy paste this and show it to your doctor too. it would help him

The lumbar puncture if done more than 2 times, in at one session within 15 minutes with a 24 bore needle can make the headache more severe if adequate,rest,antibiotics, fluids are not supplemented. The dye used must not be oil based,but water soluble, a lot of head low of the patient can cause the dye to go up into base of brain causing temperory chemical meningitis. So the headache can go worse, but with an expert doing it with a 27 bore needle , the complications are nil. i mean the smaller the lumbar puncture hole, lesser the added complication of headache. It is better to treat him with fluids, rest, and what i suggested earlier.
