Question

my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero has a frequent problem that prevents the car from starting unless a memory program is run (the key loses its memory) after running the memory program the car will start and be fine for two weeks or so. Will having new keys made alleviate this problem or does the ignition sensor need to be replaced?

Hello!

Usually this problem is due to the BCM or PCM loosing the memory of the ignition switch. MOst of the time a relearn procedure will take care of your concern. if the problem continues, the ignition switch will need ot be replaced.
