Question

I have been taking Bezafibrate Tablets for cholesterol as others I have been on have had a reaction of one kind or another. I have been experiencing headaches since taking these, now have headaches every day, get and go to bed with them, what can I do? The dr insists that I take some form of cholesterol medication and does not believe me when I say I have side effects - help I am desperate, can't cope with the headaches.

Hello,

Welcome to Just Answer and thanks for your question. Headaches have been reported as a side effect when taking benzafibrate. Most people have no problems after the first week or two but if you continue to have the headaches, your doctor will need to come up with another medication. If your cholesterol isn't too high, your GP could consider ezetimibe (Zetia) if you haven't tried that one. It is more expensive to use in the US than a drug like benzafibrate, but your drug payment system may be different than ours.
