That is an indicator that your hard drive is about to have a permanent hardware failure. In this case, Norton will not do anything.

You should be thankful, it is rare that you actually are able to get that message and have a chance to backup your data before the failure. You should take advantage of that fact.

Backup your data to a thumb drive or external hard drive, and have your hard drive replaced.

The best way to do this is probably to take it to a computer repair shop, purchase the drive and have them replace it.

If you feel comfortable replacing the hard drive yourself, you will still need to purchase the new hard drive and install it, then reload Windows and restore your data.

There is also the possibility that your computer is still under warranty. If it is, you can contact the manufacturer and either arrange for the hard drive to be replaced or they can send you parts.
