Many things are involved to determine an answer for your question. 1.) Are you hiring a QC as full time employment or just for a particular "project."? 2.) Please let me know what you plan on hiring this quanity surveyor for? Construction project cost accounting? or some other form of cost analysis?

Thank you for that information. You definitely do not need a "Quantity Surveyor." What you need to do is to call in three different general contractors and obtain three proposals, including price, on what needs to be done with the property. These contractors will be aware of the codes and regulations for your area and will also know what products and materials should be used. There should be no charge for providing these proposals. What you should be looking for, before just the lowest price, is the contractor should be licensed and bonded, have insurance, is experienced in what the project will be, and has been in business for several years. Further he is able and willing to give you a few references on projects he has done. Once all of these very important details are satisfied then you will begin analyzing the prices and differences.
