Question

Hi my name is Christine my windows xp can't open my start button to turn off desk top or open running programs in the tool bar like firewall or click on tool bar open window that has toolbar and Task Manager,Cascade Windows,Tile windows horizontally,show desktop. It start doing it after installing printer. what is causing this or how do I fix it

hello,

 

please press CTRL + ALT + DEL

this will load your windows task manager.

 

in your task manager, press the NEW TASK button.

into the textbox, type this:

explorer.exe

 

and press enter.

this will run the explorer.exe

 

this procedure will start your windows as usual. your taskbar will come.

 

when done, go to your printers listing and uninstall your printer.

 

please let me know how it goes.

hi my explorer was already running but still did what you said uninstalled printer restart desktop still has no effect i place the mouse pointer on start button click on it no open start menu or right click to open windowover start button, can't click on tool bar on the bottom of my desktop but can open decktop icons programs on desktop still cannot open my firewall or open my antivirus to scan or tell it to up date

you will see a HIDE ALL MICROSOFT SERVICES checkbox. please put a tick into it (check it)

 

when done, press DISABLE ALL again. and press APPLY again.

ok the computer is still not full started no firewall only antivirus and my wirerless conection which is not connected is in the tool bar and no hidden Icons

ok should I restart the computer. I had only just installed a new OS xp pro service pack three about a week ago and today my son its his compu wanted to print and install printer turned it off and when my son turn it on tonight the problem was there I don't know if this helps but it work after i finished installing it

Its a Canon MP140 and i installed the drivers off the CD-rom installation disc that came with printer i want to hit accept don't know how this works

Xp pro service pack 3 its a new operating system just brought and istalled form thge first time windows validated and up todate and working very well but until i install printer used space on hard drive 9.77 Gb used on a XXX XXXX XXXXX

ok, please make your your printer cable is connected to your computer.

 

double click on that file and start installation.

follow on screen instructions carefully.

 

after installation, it will ask you to restart your computer. restart your computer.

 

when you come back to windows, your printer will work properly.
