Yesterday at work, I started getting dizzy and almost past out started shaking and then I remembered I had not eaten my snack, an apple and carrots - no I am not diabetic. My mother and grandmother had low blood sugar I've had test before that showed to have low blood sugar first time in a low time. I try to remember to eat a snack.

Accepted Answer

Low blood sugar is more commonly seen in people who are diabetic, but other possibilities do exist. Some of the causes in non diabetics are: medication, long term starvation, liver disease, pancreas tumor and critical illness, click here. If it's not a frequent occurrence, then taking frequent meals can be a good option. If it does happen then the immediate treatment is to eat/drink something that will increase your blood sugar level such as eating candy, drinking fruit juice or taking glucose tablets to raise your blood sugar level. If it's happening again and again then you may like to have proper evaluation and investigation to find out the cause and an have appropriate treatment to avoid recurrence.
