Hi,
Thanks for using JustAnswer.

I guess you are looking for making a PRINTABLE version of the contents in page (in your case a newsletter). It can be done very easily by using JavaScripting and doing proper formatting.

Please see if the information on the page http://javascript.about.com/library/blprint.htm

Hope this helps.

How do I add the code to our website program. ( Joomla).

I am not very versed in this so please walk me through the steps.

Also, we have 20 pages in our newsletter. Will the Print this page button work for all the pages and will it correct our margin problems we currently have with printing?

Posted by toughguy 23 days and 16 hours ago.

Info Request

Hi,
If we add PRINT button 20 pages, then we should be able to define printable parts of the page and also make sure page is printed properly.

Can you please provide the link to your newsletter and let me know WHAT is the exact problem you are facing so that i can work on the problem you are facing.

As your question was generic i provided a generic answer.

Accepted Answer

Hi,
As you are using Joomla i see that there is option built in Joomla to accomplish the task of showing printer friendly button for all contents of the site.

To enable PRINT button..

Begin by navigating to Site > Global Configuration
Select the Content tab.
There are a bunch of options that will help you control the output of your content.
Option : Print Icon. Allows your users to create a printer-friendly version of your content item.. Select "SHOW" option.

You can get more information, view the video.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to let me know how things work.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

If you want to enable PRINT button ON ALL articles, try configuring as follows: In Joomla! 1.5, global article parameters like: Show Title, Title Linkable, PDF Icon, Print Icon, etc. settings were moved to Article Manager under button Preferences. (In Joomla! 1.0 are located in Global Configuration, tab Content.)

Did you login as ADMINISTRATOR of the site?

Can you please UPLOAD a screenshot of the Newletter EDITING page so that we can work on solving the problem fast?

This is our first page of the newsletter after it was e-mailed to me. I don't have a print button anywhere

Posted by toughguy 23 days and 14 hours ago.

Info Request

Hi,

With the configuratioon we did PRINT button won't show up in EMAIL. It would show ON YOUR SITE where we did the configuration.. In case the NEWSLETTER need to have the print button, it would be good to USE Email client feature rather than the Joomla Feature.

If there is a option to view the page on your site, then check if PRINT button is present or not.

Also are you using and Extension to PUBLISH the NEWLETTER? If so, provide the details.

What is the email client feature as opposed to the Joomla feature

23 days and 14 hours ago.

I don't think we are using the extensions. This was all set up for us by someone else and we are still trying to learn the program.

Info Request

Hi,

By email service feature, i mean PRINTABLE view of your Email service.

I recommend you to CREATE a NEW POST and see if PRINT button is coming or not?

Also from the news letter content you have provided, i suspect you might be using some extension Joobi.. CAN YOU PLEASE CONFIRM that you are not using.

In case can you are using any Extension like Acajoom from iJoobi.com (http://demo.ijoobi.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58&Itemid=86) for publishing Newsletters, then we won't have ANY CONTROL on the content and PROPER formatting need to be DONE while creating the newsletter and it won't be easy to have "Printer Friendly" button on the newsletter page.

Instead i would recommend you to PREPARE the newsletter so that contents won't be out of printable area OR you can use PRINTABLE view of your Email service and that should help.
