Question

I am taking Norvasc, Lisinopril, lasix. My calves, ankles, and feet are very swollen at the end of the day, especially in my left leg. I have had pain behind the knee for a couple of months. As of yesterday, I have severe pain beginning in my left hip and down my outer thigh. What is going on?

Many high blood pressure prescriptions. Either they don't work or I experience swelling and itching. Norvasc works best but has unpleasant side effects.

Accepted Answer

You might have fluid retention from having dependent flow - in other words your blood flow is possibly static - hence why you are givin lasix to help with this. But, also, you might have a blood clot - and this should be looked at by your physician - because if so, this needs to be treated to prevent a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs) from forming.
