she has insulin twice daily plus diabetic cans of food does it matter if food given first then insulin or the other way about her eye's are not that great please adive

Dear Animalcarer,
Thank you for your post. I am sorry to hear that your dog was diagnosed with Diabetes. The good news is that it is most cases very manageable.
Ideally, we recommend giving the insulin after the meal. The reason for this is then we know the patient has eaten normally, therefore decreasing the risk of low blood glucose.
If she has developed cataracts, I would recommend that you consider seein a veterinary ophthalmologist. In the majority of cases, cataracts can be removed, which can significantly improve her quality of life.
