Well, for one, if you are good with a multi meter you can check to see if the contacts are working and charging. Check the battery, the contacts of the unit and the contacts of the battery---make sure the pins have ample spring or resistance enough to make good contact (they get worn).
use a multi-meter to check out the out put of the AC adapter. If that was good I'd go to the point of contacts for the battery upon the unit for my next test

Let the battery drain. Use the computer with out AC. once it is empty, recharge it fully.
Do this 3-4 times.
See if it charges?

Also test the battery in another similar laptop if it behaves the same way. If it does, then may be you would consider changing the battery again with a good/working/new one.

If still no success, you may need to contach any local tech as there is any issue with power suppply unit

I don't think there is anything else that can be done as you have already changed the battery. I know you do not want to hear this but I can only tell you the facts and sometimes true facts are not pleasant.
