Hi XXXXXXXXXX;

About the only thing you can do is disassemble the unit and replace the pull chain.

This is not a difficult task for a DIYer, but they do need a basic grasp of household electrial and electrical theory. eg; what is the common color codeing for a hot wire, neutral, earth ground, and secondairy hot wires. Use of a test meter, and proper safety practises when working with live electrical wires.

The pull chain is available from Radio Shack for about 3 bucks.

Best, THS
